Once Usage monitoring has been set up, you need to start it in order to collect monitoring data. You can also stop it at any time.

After monitoring has been running for a few minutes and data has been collected, you can view it in a variety of ways and also create reports from it. If you set up Usage monitoring alerts, condition violation and clear events can also be viewed.

Start Usage monitoring

Before you start Usage monitoring on a monitoring point, it must be set up properly.

To start Usage monitoring:

  1. Navigate to Usage > Monitoring Points.
  2. For the monitoring point interface you want to start monitoring on, click the icon.
    • It takes at least five minutes for the first results to be seen on this page.
    • Results are sent back to APM every five minutes and are displayed in a variety of charts.
    • If you are not seeing the results you expect, try troubleshooting the issue.

Stop Usage monitoring

Once Usage monitoring is started, it can be stopped.

To stop monitoring:

  1. Navigate to Usage > Monitoring Points.
  2. For the monitoring point interface you want to stop monitoring on, click the icon.
    • Monitoring is stopped.
