Setting the time zone for both APM users and for monitoring points is important in order for monitoring results to display correctly.

Set user time zone

The user time zone is set to the time zone where you are located. Setting the user time zone correctly is important because charts and reports reflect your local time.

To set your user time zone:

  1. In APM, hover over your user icon at the top right of the page.
  2. Select Update Time Zone from the dropdown.
  3. In the Time Zone field, select the time zone you are located in.
  4. Click Save.
    • Your user time zone is set accordingly.

There is a minor caveat when using daylight saving time zones. When the time range you select for displaying charts includes the daylight savings time boundary, the x-axis of the time series honors standard time. If this is undesirable, you can temporarily change your user time zone to a standard time zone.

Set monitoring point time zone

The monitoring point time zone is set to the time zone where the monitoring point is located. It is specified when the monitoring point is initially configured and it can be seen in APM by navigating to > Manage Monitoring Points.

Setting the monitoring point time zone correctly is important for a number of reasons:

  • In conjunction with the monitoring point’s system time, it is required in order for the monitoring point to connect to APM. If the time is not correct, then there could be an issue with certificate validity checks when connecting.
  • It is required for monitoring results to be timestamped correctly.
  • It is required in order to display the correct time in path performance charts when Source Monitoring Point Time Zone is set.
  • It is required for alert conditions to be applied at the right time according to alert time ranges you have set.
