This release is only for the Private Cloud Server and Virtual Private Cloud.

New features

  • Route visual with BGP now available!!—Fully integrated with Delivery, the multi-path Route visual with BGP feature is now available. This feature provides a way to visualize routing for up to 20 network paths over time, enabling you to investigate problems that may be due to routing. The Route visual instantly shows hops that are common to multiple paths and how this routing changes over time. The addition of live BGP data lets you see the public networks crossed by your paths. Note that the Hops view can show all your historical data but Network view data is only available from the time of this software release. Please contact AppNeta Support to activate this feature.
  • Migrate monitoring from one monitoring point to another—We have added the ability to migrate monitoring from one monitoring point to another. The migration allows interface mapping and preserves monitoring history and (where applicable) licensing. This feature is typically used when moving to a newer monitoring point model, when replacing a defective monitoring point, or when aggregating monitoring from two or more monitoring points to a higher capacity replacement. As part of the migration process, the source monitoring point is deleted from APM.

Enhancements

  • Import Selenium scripts in JSON format—You can now import JSON format Selenium scripts generated by Kantu directly into APM. Previously, the scripts needed to be converted to HTML format prior to import.
  • Preview prior to saving—We have updated Web App Group creation and editing pages so that the Preview feature can be used before saving the workflow being edited. This eliminates the need to save the workflow then edit it again in order to run the Preview.
  • Configurable Preview timeout—In order to accommodate longer running scripts, we now provide a configurable timeout for the Preview feature in Experience monitoring. Previously, there was a 90 second timeout. Now, the default is 90 seconds but the timeout can be configured from 25 to 300 seconds.
  • Retrieve CNAME records via API—We have extended the GET /v3/dns/webPath/data and GET /v3/dns/webPath/{id}/data API endpoints to allow the retrieval of CNAME records in addition to A and AAAA records. Previously, only A and AAAA records could be retrieved through the API.
  • Target IP provided on incomplete traceroutes—We have updated the Routes pane on the Network Paths page to provide the target IP of incomplete traceroutes for network paths that target domain names. Previously, the target IP address was only provided if the traceroute completed to the target.
  • Faster and more fully featured Events page—We have updated the Events page to provide searching and sorting features and a UI similar to the Network Paths and Web Paths pages. In addition, changes have been made to significantly enhance the page performance.
  • Deep link provided in event data—We have updated the Service Quality and Web Application event objects returned by APM Event Integration to include a deep link to the path in AppNeta Performance Manager. The deep link is the same as the one provided as part of the corresponding alert notification email.
  • Retrieve licenses compatible with monitoring point type—We have added a filter (compatibleWithOs) to GET /v3/license that shows licenses compatible with the specified monitoring point type.
  • Voice and video test path selection dropdown is now searchable—When selecting paths for voice and video tests, you can now search for the path you want. This simplifies path selection when there are many paths.

Resolved issues

ID Keyword Description
APM-852 Delivery We fixed an issue where network paths configured with a Voice WAN target type display could data (rather than voice) details on the Network Paths page.
APM-3682 Delivery We fixed an issue where the Routes pane on the Network Paths page would not render properly on IE11.
APM-2241 Delivery We fixed an issue where “Last Diagnostic” timestamps were missing for some dual-ended network paths.
APM-3083 Delivery We fixed an issue where a Saved Smart List was not able to be deleted.
APM-4386 Delivery We fixed an issue where the Description column on the Events page could not be sorted.
APM-4242 Delivery We fixed an issue where the data bar on the Routes pane within the Network Paths page could render incorrectly when using IE11.
APM-3994 PathTest We fixed an issue in PathTest where the Target Bandwidth field always returned “0” when the “Max” bandwidth setting was used.
APM-3702 Performance We fixed an issue where HTTP 500 messages could appear due to slowly performing queries. Examples include the Organizational Summary page and the Events tab for a network path.
APM-2027 Geomap We fixed an issue where the popup shown when clicking a monitoring point or path on the Geomap would not show when the display was maximized.
APM-1839 Licensing We fixed an issue where creating a network path on a monitoring point with no available licenses could “unlicense” an existing path on the same device.
APM-2349 Diagnostics We fixed an issue where a Diagnostic message indicated a QoS change but there was not an associated QoS violation event.
APM-1741 Diagnostics We fixed an issue where Diagnostics performed on a dual-ended path would only display the results for one direction of testing rather than for both directions.
APM-3534 Events We fixed an issue where it was unclear in network change event descriptions that the numbers displayed were AS (Autonomous System) numbers and not port numbers.
APM-3914 API We fixed an issue where the observer API (/v3/observer) was unable to send to a target using a certificate signed by Let’s Encrypt.
APM-3933 API We fixed an issue where the API Event Integration configuration (/v3/observer) for a user was not deleted when the user was deleted.
APM-3339 API We fixed an issue where entering the same path ID multiple times in POST /v3/traceroute duplicated the results.
APM-3367 Experience We fixed an issue where a “500 Internal Server Error” message could appear when accessing certain web path pages in Experience.
APM-3255 Experience We fixed an issue where a Web App Group could not be modified when Global Monitoring Points became unlicensed and removed from an organization.
APM-389 Experience We fixed an issue where “View Only” users were able to click a Configure button on the Web App Groups page but then be unable to perform configuration due to lack of privileges. The button is now changed to View Configuration and allows the “View Only” user to view the configuration.
APM-3345 Experience We fixed an issue where a web path could fail and display the “Test Failed: Specified Monitoring Point network interface could not be used” error message in the Latest Transaction Details pane of the Test Timeline page. The “Alert profile unknown. Parameter error” message was also displayed on both Delivery and Experience charts.
APM-3221 Experience We fixed an issue where the Test Drill-down page could constantly load and not provide transaction details.
APM-3892 Experience We fixed an issue where scrolling from the bottom to the top of the “waterfall” diagram on the Test Drill-down page would not work as expected.
APM-3793 Experience We fixed an issue where there was a discrepancy between the number of web paths shown on the Overview page and those shown on the Web Paths page.
APM-3786 Experience We fixed an issue where updating or deleting a web app group could take a long time.
APM-1355 Experience We fixed an issue where selecting a time interval containing a single datapoint caused the DNS chart time range to become unaligned with the other Experience charts.
APM-4260 Experience We fixed an issue where a custom timeout set for a web path would not take effect until the Sequencer service was restarted or the script changed, forcing a restart.
APM-4032 Experience We fixed an issue where the Preview feature within Experience monitoring would wait for five minutes before failing when the target was unresolvable.
APM-3946 Experience We fixed an issue where proxy type was not searchable on the Web Paths page using a text search.
APM-3625 Experience We fixed an issue where HTTP Throughput and Response Time charts were missing from the Experience Detail Report when web paths using Selenium were run on monitoring points capable of producing DNS data.
APM-4339 Experience We fixed an issue where a label was missing on the milestone breakdown in the Comparison View for web paths.
APM-3414 API We fixed an issue where a web app group that was created in the APM UI and used a Global Monitoring Point could not be modified using the API.
APM-2941 Connectivity We fixed an issue where a monitoring point could be connected to APM but not be recognized as being connected by APM.
APM-3442 Monitoring Point setup We fixed an issue where, when following the “USB Configuration” steps for physical monitoring points, the information provided for determining when the monitoring point is ready for the USB stick did not list all available monitoring points.
APM-3456 Reports We fixed an issue where, when scheduling a Location Bandwidth Quality Report, it was not clear that “Offices” was a required field.

Changes to be aware of

  • Change to configurable Preview timeout—In order to allow scripts to timeout faster in Experience monitoring, we have reduced the minimum configurable timeout for the Preview feature from 25 to 15 seconds. The maximum is still 300 seconds and the default remains at 90 seconds.
  • Workflow page usability changes—We have made look and feel changes to the Edit Workflow page in Experience to improve usability.
  • DNS more prominent in Comparison View—In order to make the DNS Resolution Time chart more prevalent within a Comparison View we have moved it from a separate tab to the main page just below the Transaction Time chart.
  • Voice and video test path selection dropdown is now searchable—When selecting paths for voice and video tests, you can now search for the path you want. This simplifies path selection when there are many paths.

This release delivers EMP 12.3.1. That release provides a fix to an issue that caused grey bars to appear in the Experience charts. The base release is EMP 12.3.0 (2019-07-30).
