There are situations where it is desirable to consolidate the presentation of monitoring tools from different vendors onto a single web page. To enable an APM session to be embedded on one of these pages you first need to provide users the ability to login via an embedded session. Once this is done, they can retrieve an embeddable URL (either from an email that is sent to them or from APM) and then add it to the web page being modified.

Be aware that embedding an application within another has the potential for exposure to cross-site scripting (XSS) types of security vulnerabilities.

Configuring embeddable session logins

Only users with the “Embeddable Session Login” add-on privilege can login using an embedded interface.

Only Org Admins can configure the “Embeddable Session Login” add-on for a user.

To enable embeddable session logins for a user:

  1. Navigate to > Manage Users.
  2. For the selected user, choose 50x50_trans.png > Configure.
  3. In the Add-Ons section, select Embeddable Session Login.
  4. Click Update.
    • The Add-Ons column in the Manage Users screen contains “Embeddable Session Login” for the selected user.
    • An email with the embeddable URL is emailed to the user.

To disable embeddable session logins for a user:

  1. Choose > Manage Users.
  2. For the selected user, choose 50x50_trans.png > Configure.
  3. In the Add-Ons section, clear Embeddable Session Login.
  4. Click Update.
    • The Add-Ons column in the Manage Users screen does not contain “Embeddable Session Login” for the selected user.

Retrieving the embeddable URL

At the time “Embeddable Session Login” is enabled on a user account, an email with the embeddable URL is sent to the user. Users with “Embeddable Session Login” enabled can also retrieve the embeddable URL at any time.

To retrieve the embeddable URL:

  1. Hover over your username (top right corner).
  2. Click Get Embeddable URL.
  3. Copy the embeddable content and click OK.
  4. Paste the embeddable content into the web page being modified.
