Network path events indicate changes to conditions on a network path. For example, network changes (routing change to a different AS), and violated or cleared alert conditions are network path events. APM stores these events in the Delivery event log and, once logged, there are a number of actions you can perform to locate the ones you are looking for. Actions include find, filter, and sort.

Find events

Network path events can be searched for using a search string. The search looks at content in the Network Path Name and Description columns on the Events page. Searches can be combined with filters to narrow the search.

To find events:

  1. Navigate to Delivery > Events.
  2. In the search field, enter the search string.
    • Events matching the search string are listed.
    • Click “=” to invert the search.
    • Click “x” to remove the search string.
    • To refine the search, you can add another search string by repeating these steps.

Filter events

A filtering mechanism is available to help narrow a search. Multiple filters can be combined together and with a search string for even further granularity.

To filter events:

  1. Navigate to Delivery > Events.
  2. Click the search field.
  3. Click Event Type.
  4. Select a filter.
    • Objects matching the filter type are listed.
  5. Select one or more of the filter objects listed.
    • Events matching the selected filter objects are listed.
    • Click “=” to invert the filter.
    • Click “x” to remove the filter.
    • To refine what you are filtering, you can add another filter by repeating these steps.

Sort events

Lists of events can be sorted based on data in any column on the Events page except the Description column.

To sort a list of events:

  1. Navigate to Delivery > Events.
  2. Click the heading of the column you want to sort by.
    • The events are sorted by the column you selected.
  3. Click the heading again to reverse the sort order.
