The default interface is the one the monitoring point uses to connect to APM. By default, it is the Primary network connection port as listed on the Monitoring Points page. You can view the default interface or change it to one of the Secondary network connection ports (or to a wireless interface) if necessary once it has been added.

View default interface

Web admin

  1. Log in to Web Admin.
  2. Navigate to Network Settings > Network Interfaces.
  3. In the Active column, Default Interface identifies the default interface.

Admin API

  1. Access the Admin API.
  2. Determine which interfaces is the default interface:
    1. Navigate to Interface > GET /interface/default/.
    2. Click Submit.
      • The Response Body should show a status of 200. The name field shows the default interface.

Web admin

  1. Log in to Web Admin.
  2. In the Pathview Appliance Status section, the Default Network Interface shows the default interface.

Change default interface

Web admin

  1. Log in to Web Admin.
  2. Navigate to Network Settings >Network Interfaces.
  3. For the interface you want to set as the default interface, click > Set Default Interface.
  4. Click Confirm.
  5. Restart networking.
  6. Connect the interface to your LAN with an Ethernet cable.
    • It will take several minutes before the monitoring point status shows as “Connection Established” in APM.

Admin API

  1. Access the Admin API.
  2. Navigate to Interface > PUT /interface/{interface_name}/.
  3. In the Parameters section:
    • For the interface_name field, specify the name of the interface you want to set as the default interface.
    • For the action field, select setdefault.
      1. Click Submit.
        • The Response Body should show a status of 200. The default interface is changed.
  4. Restart networking.
  5. Connect the interface to your LAN with an Ethernet cable.
    • It will take several minutes before the monitoring point status shows as “Connection Established” in APM.

Web admin

  1. Log in to Web Admin.
  2. Click Network Configuration.
  3. In the Default Interface section, click Change.
  4. In the Default Interface field, select the interface you want to set as the default interface.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Restart networking.
  7. Connect the interface to your LAN with an Ethernet cable.
    • It will take several minutes before the monitoring point status shows as “Connection Established” in APM.
