The passphrase is used to encrypt your .pcap files generated by Packet Capture. While the passphrase is required to download capture files, it is not required to view packet capture analysis of capture files. Remember the passphrase. If you lose the passphrase, you can reset it, but then you can’t download any captures encrypted with the old passphrase.

Set passphrase

Setting the passphrase is required in order to perform packet captures.

Web admin

  1. Navigate to > Manage Monitoring Points.
  2. Click a device row to reveal or update the side panels.
  3. Click the ‘Set Passphrase’ link.
  4. Set the passphrase.
  5. Save your changes.

Web admin

  1. Log in to web admin.
  2. Click ‘FlowView Settings’.
  3. Click ‘Packet Capture’.
  4. Enter a passphrase.
  5. Click ‘Submit’.

Admin API

  1. Use the capture passphrase resource in the admin API to set or change the passphrase. To access the API you’ll need to complete monitoring point setup and then plug the monitoring point hostname into this url.

Clear passphrase

This function is included in device setup and decommission, so you’ll likely never need to use it explicitly.

  1. Log in to web admin.
  2. Click ‘Appliance Configuration’.
  3. Click ‘Clear Passphrase’.
  4. Confirm or Cancel.

  4. Click ‘Delete Passphrase’.
